Introduction
Microsoft 365 offers access to essential productivity applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and more. As a faculty member or student at Lakeland, you are eligible to download and install Microsoft 365 applications on your personal computer using your Lakeland email account. Please follow the steps below to get started.
Step 1: Prepare Your Computer
- Ensure your device is connected to a reliable internet connection.
- Check that your computer meets the minimum system requirements for Microsoft 365 (Windows 10 or later, or the latest version of macOS).
- Uninstall any old or trial versions of Microsoft Office to avoid conflicts.
Step 2: Access the Microsoft 365 Portal
- Open your preferred web browser (such as Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Safari).
- Go to the Microsoft 365 login page: [https://m365.cloud.microsoft/]
Step 3: Sign In with Your Lakeland Email Account
- Click on Sign in if prompted.
- Enter your full Lakeland email address (e.g., username@lakeland.edu) and click Next.
- Select Work or school account.
- Enter your Lakeland password and click Sign in.
- If prompted, follow any additional verification or Multi-Factor Authentication steps.
Step 4: Begin the Microsoft 365 Installation
- Once signed in, you will be taken to the Microsoft 365 home page.
- In the menu on the left side, select Apps.
- Look for the Install apps button in the top right corner or under your profile.
- Click on Install apps, then select Microsoft 365 apps from the dropdown menu.
- The installer file will begin downloading to your computer.
Step 5: Install Microsoft 365 on Your Computer
- Locate the downloaded installer file (usually in your Downloads folder).
- Double-click the installer to begin the installation process.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
- Wait for the installation to finish—it may take several minutes.
Step 6: Activate Microsoft 365 Applications
- Once installation is complete, open any Microsoft 365 application (e.g., Word, Excel).
- You may be prompted to sign in. Enter your Lakeland email address and password to activate your license.
- Complete any remaining setup steps as prompted.
Step 7: Start Using Microsoft 365
- You now have access to Microsoft 365 applications on your personal computer.
- Save your work to OneDrive for easy access across devices using your Lakeland account.

Additional Notes
- Your Microsoft 365 license is active as long as you are a current faculty member or student at Lakeland.
- If your status changes, access to Microsoft 365 may be discontinued.
