Setting Default MFA Authentication Method to Push Notifications or Phone Call

Summary

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is now required for the remote gateway (https://remote.lakeland.edu) and only push notifications with the Microsoft Authenticator App or a phone call will work in order to successfully login.

Body

  1. Sign-in to your account by going to the website of https://outlook.office365.com and login with your Lakeland credentials.
  2. Once you are signed-in, select your name or initials in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. Then select View account. 
  3. Select Security Info on the left-hand side of the screen. Select Change under Default sign-in method. 
  4. From the drop down menu, select the Microsoft Authenticator - notification method to be the default then select Confirm. If you are using any type of phone instead of the Authenticator app, please select Phone - call +1 XXXXXXXXXX. MFA is now required when signing into the remote gateway (https://remote.lakeland.edu) and either the push notifications on the Microsoft Authenticator app or phone call will work to approve the sign-in request. As long as you have either of those methods selected, you will be able to successfully login to the remote gateway.
