Laptop Guide for 2025 - 2026 Year

Body

Purchasing a laptop for college can be overwhelming due to the wide range of options, price points, and brands available. Start by considering either Apple or Windows (PC) laptops, as Chromebooks and tablets are not suitable as primary computing devices for a college environment. It’s also highly recommended to opt for a warranty of two to three years.

When selecting a laptop, ensure it meets the following minimum specifications:

-At least 16 GB of RAM. For students majoring in graphic arts or computer science, 32 GB of RAM is advisable.
-An SSD/ hard drive with a capacity of at least 512 GB. For those studying graphic arts or computer science, 1 TB SSD is recommended.
-A CPU should be an Intel i5 or AMD Ryzen 5 or higher for Windows laptops. For Apple laptops, consider those equipped with any of the M series chips. Students majoring in graphic arts or computer science should select a i7 or Ryzen 7 or higher for windows laptops and M3 or higher for Apple laptops.
