Before you begin: You will need your current Lakeland password and access to your multi-factor authentication method, such as Microsoft Authenticator, text message, or phone call.
Choose a strong password
Your new password must be complex and difficult for others to guess. Choose a password that is unique to your Lakeland account and not used for other personal or work accounts.
- Avoid easy-to-guess words or phrases, such as your name, username, Lakeland, password, or common seasonal words.
- Do not reuse a password you have used recently.
- Use a mix of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters.
- Consider using a longer passphrase made up of unrelated words, numbers, and symbols that you can remember but others would not easily guess.
Steps to change your password
- Go to https://myaccount.microsoft.com/.
- Sign in with your Lakeland University email address.
- If prompted, complete multi-factor authentication.
- From the left menu, select Password. If you do not see Password, select Security info and then choose the option to change your password.
- Enter your current password.
- Enter a new, complex password, then enter it again to confirm it.
- Select Submit to save the change.
- After the password is changed, use the new password the next time you sign in to Lakeland email, Microsoft 365 apps, Wi-Fi, or other Lakeland services.
If you forgot your password
If you do not know your current password, do not use the steps above. Instead, use Lakeland’s password reset process or contact the Lakeland University Help Desk for assistance.
After changing your password
- Update saved passwords on your phone, tablet, Outlook desktop app, browser, and any other device or application where your Lakeland account is saved.
- If your email stops syncing, remove the saved password and sign in again with your new password.
- If you are prompted repeatedly for your password, restart the device and try signing in again.
