Set Up Your Account Security Information

Before You Begin

  • Have your phone with you.
  • If prompted, download the Microsoft Authenticator app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
  • Use an alternate email address that you can access after you arrive on campus.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Sign in to your student account.
  2. If you see a message that says More information required, select Next.
  3. Follow the on-screen prompts to add your required security method. Microsoft Authenticator is the recommended option for approving sign-ins.
  4. If you are asked to set up the Microsoft Authenticator app, open the app on your phone and choose to add a Work or school account. Then scan the QR code shown on your computer screen.
  5. Approve the sign-in request in Microsoft Authenticator, or enter the number shown on your computer if prompted.
  6. When the verification is successful, select Done or Next.
  7. If you see a message that says Don’t lose access to your account, add an alternate email address when prompted. This can help you recover access later if needed.
  8. Complete any remaining verification prompts, then select Finish.

Tips

  • Do not close the setup page until verification is complete.
  • Some setup pages may time out after several minutes. If that happens, sign in again and continue the setup process.
  • If you get a new phone later, update your security information as soon as possible so you do not lose access to your account.
  • For your security, do not approve sign-in prompts unless you are actively signing in.
